Participate in recognizing Michigan’s heritage by nominating any Michiganian, past or present, who you feel has made a significant impact on our state or nation. Each year, a committee of distinguished individuals will review nominations and select a limited number of new inductees. Inductees are honored with a bronze plaque embedded in the sidewalks of our capital city, Lansing, Michigan. A brief biographical sketch of the inductee’s life and accomplishments will be featured on each plaque. A more comprehensive biographical outline of the inductee’s life and accomplishments will be featured on the Walk of Fame Web site. Nominations for the Walk of Fame are accepted until November 1st of each year.  Who Can Nominate? All Michigan residents are encouraged to nominate one or more Michiganians, past or present, who have contributed significantly to our state or nation. Out-of-state residents are welcome to participate as well.  How Many Nominations May I Submit? You can nominate as many Michiganians as you would like, but only one name can be submitted at a time. If nominating more than one person you will need to submit each nominee’s name individually. How Often Should I Nominate Someone? We have made your job easy. You only have to nominate a Michiganian once for consideration by the selection committee. Multiple nominations of the same person are not necessary. Will I be Able to Nominate Throughout the Year? Yes. While the selection committee will choose Walk of Fame inductees only once a year, nominations are accepted and encouraged throughout the year. Nominations received after the annual selection process is completed will be considered the following year.  What If I Am Not Sure Which Nomination Category is Appropriate? An explanation of each of the six nomination categories with occupational or interest examples is provided. If you are still uncertain after reviewing this information, choose the category that you feel is the most appropriate.  What If I Do Not Know or I Am Unsure About Specific Dates or Details. That is not a problem. The information available to us for research purposes at the Michigan Historical Center  rivals that of any historical museum in the nation. We simply request that you provide as much information as possible.  Why Would Michigan’s Fourth Grade Students Be Interested in My Nominee? Michigan’s rich history and cultural heritage is studied by fourth grade students state-wide. This includes examining individuals who represent our local communities, the state of Michigan, and our nation. Since the Walk of Fame recognizes Michigan residents who have contributed significantly to the advancement of our state or nation, their stories present future program opportunities. The information you provide may help in the development of educational materials for Michigan’s fourth grade students. Will I be Charged a Fee to Nominate?
